New JR Tourist Passes for Travel to the World Heritage Sites, Shirakawago and Kumano Kodo

JR-Central and JR-West will be issuing two new passes for foreign visitors: "Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass" and "Ise-Kumano Area Tourist Pass".

The pass needs to be arranged before arriving in Japan as it cannot be purchased in Japan. The MOC (Exchange Order) of the passes will be available from June at overseas travel agents exclusively for visitors who will be traveling Japan on a short-term stay visa. MOC can be exchanged to the passes at designated JR stations in Japan to used after July 1st. Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass

1. Unlimited rides on JR conventional lines running between Nagoya, Gero, Takayama and Toyama, and linking Kansai-airport, Osaka City area, Kyoto, Kaga-Onsen and Kanazawa, and "Hokuriku Shinkansen" running between Kanazawa and Toyama.
2. Unlimited rides on buses convenient for visiting World Heritage site, Shirakawa-go/Gokayama.

Valid Period

Five consecutive days.

Prices

Adult: 13,500 yen
Child (6 to 11 year-old): 6,750 yen


Ise-Kumano Area Tourist Pass

1. Unlimited rides on JR conventional lines running between Nagoya, Matsusaka, Owase, Kumanoshi, Shingu, Nachi and Kii-Katsuura, and linking Taki, Iseshi and Toba.
2. Unlimited rides on buses convenient for visiting Ise Jingu Shrine, Toba area, and World Heritage listed Kumano Kodo (including Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha and Kumano Nachi Taisha).

Valid Period

Five consecutive days.

Adult: 10,500 yen
Child (6 to 11 year-old): 5,250 yen
