Portable WiFi or SIM card in Ise

Blando's picture

Hi,
I heard sim card is cheaper than portable wifi but that wifi has stronger signals.

I am going to stay Ise from August 21th for 10 days
Will I be able to get Internet access if I get a sim card?

Thanks.

    ---Yes, they are cheaper.

but that wifi has stronger signals.
---Not necessarily. If you device supports all the frequency bands used by the SIM card, it will be reliable enough. On the other hand, the wifi offered by Japanese companies would have stronger signals if your device doesn't support all the frequency bands.

---First, your device has to be compatible with the networks in Japan and the SIM card. If it is compatible, it can connect to the internet in Ise. Docomo covers the area and most SIM cards sold for travelers are use docomo network.

We think you won't need so much data for your usage and period. We think 1GB package that lasts for 14 days or a month will be enough. The quality of the prepaid SIM cards are basically the same but we recommend you buy one in Japan, not overseas. It will be cheaper.
