Halloween Cosplay Parades 2016 in Tokyo (Oct.29&30)

This year's Halloween is coming! Although it is not a traditional Japanese Festival, Halloween is quite welcomed in Japan. This may because that the cosplay culture here is well developed. Therefore, one of the unique features of Halloween in Japan will be people who get dressed in comic and animation characteristics' costumes . As a visitor, you can either choose to participate in the Halloween parade or just be an audience of it (Don't worry, being an audience will not be boring). Here are 3 big parades or events in Tokyo that you wouldn't miss.

・Roppongi Hills Halloween Parade 2016

This year is the 14th anniversary for this event and every year more than 3,000 people participate in this event. Roppongi is famous as the street for movies in Japan. As on the day of the event Tokyo Internatinal Film Festival is also being held, the theme of Roppongi Hills Halloween Parade 2016 is "Movie Characters". The route for the parade is 1km and will take around 25 minutes from the start to the end. Sweets will be distributed among the children after the parade.

* People will be divided into several groups. Each group has around 200 people. For people who wish to join into the first parade group which starts at 10:30, you must be a MasterCard user and pay 500 yen using your MasterCard only.

・Harajuku-Omotesando Hello Halloween Pumpkin Parade 2016

The parade in Omotesando is different from most of the others as it is very "cute" . Children of primary school age or younger will be the hero or heroine of the event and of course dressed up parents are also welcomed . A "Trick or Treat" map will also be distributed among the children participate in the parade and shops offer free candies and sweets will be marked on the map . This is a recommended event for people who would like to enjoy Halloween with kids.

・Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival 2016

Usually people dressed in cosplay costumes are refused to entry into shops for shopping. However, during this event you can dressed in cosplay costumes and enjoy shopping at the same time. For cosplay beginners or anyone who is interested or curious about cosplay, a corner where cosplay items can be rent for free is also available for you. Of course the event this year will also be live streamed online by Niconico Live Broadcast.
