Since 1977, International Museum Day is organised worldwide around May 18.
This year in Japan, around 280 museums and galleries are holding events, guided tours, and other activities to celebrate International Museum Day.
In Tokyo Ueno, Kita-Kyushu (Northern part of Kyushu region), and Fukuoka, “Museum Week” has been held from May 7th until the 22nd. Some museums are offering discounts on the tickets and small gifts to their visitors while some are open for free.
